Volunteer task list:
Web and Social Media Guru: You're always in the know, you love to read and share a great story, and you like to learn. You will be the voice of the Heritage Museum online with a time commitment that is flexible. You'll engage with people, ask compelling questions, track down leads about stories and artifacts, and sprinkle a little bit of history and art into the day to day lives of Vernal residents and visitors.
Early Childhood Educator: You are an engaging, fun person, and you enjoy interacting with small children. You can get down on your hands and knees and enjoy making (and cleaning) messes. You enjoy seeing the lights in children's eyes as they learn, discover, and grow. You will share 2 to 5 hours per week creating and delivering engaging hands-on learning activities to introduce preschool aged children to concepts associated with art. You'll help us start the Museum's new Kid's Exploration Station. You'll be able to connect with parents, families, and small children. You can bring your children to volunteer with you.
Exhibit and Art Show Engineer: You want to be out and around other adults. You want something to do with your hands and you like rearranging the furniture. You will help set up and take down exhibits, and do a bit of light cleaning, You'll interact with the Museum’s other staff as you help create amazing experiences.
History Buff: You're the neighborhood history expert and you like talking to people in small groups. You'll greet people at the Museum, lead tours, and share the "secrets of the museum" and "hidden history" of the area.
Crafter and Artist: You enjoy dressing up and making stuff. With some duct tape, wire, and a bit of paper, you'll craft art in minutes. You will help create engaging activities for people to do while visiting the Museum. The time commitment for this will vary.

- Behind the Scenes or spotlights on people, events, and businesses each week (posts and videos on social media).
- Posts on Art Shows or other Museum events.
- Posts highlighting items in the gift shop.
- Weekly Museum Artifact of the Week posts on social media.
- Weekly managing of social media accounts, answering patrons questions online, and recording stats associated with the Museum’s online presence.

- Manage the kid’s area and supervise children as they play and learn.
- Help with maintaining and cleaning the kid’s area.
- Assist with Museum/Library coordinated events, such as Summer Reading Activities.
- Assist with stories or a project for school groups who tour the Museum.
- Run the Museum’s weekly preschool learning program, called “Museum Kids.”

- Help setting up for exhibits and art shows, including some light cleaning as items are moved.
- Assist with taking down shows and exhibits.
- Assisting with events, projects, and upkeep of the Museum when needed.
History Buff: You're the neighborhood history expert and you like talking to people in small groups. You'll greet people at the Museum, lead tours, and share the "secrets of the museum" and "hidden history" of the area.
- Lead tours at the Museum and greet people as they come in.
- Assist with running the front desk and helping people find things in the gift shop area.
- Sharing knowledge of the Museum and the surrounding area during art shows, events, or normal operating hours.
- Help research items and topics for exhibits.
Crafter and Artist: You enjoy dressing up and making stuff. With some duct tape, wire, and a bit of paper, you'll craft art in minutes. You will help create engaging activities for people to do while visiting the Museum. The time commitment for this will vary.
- Creating activities for visitors to do while visiting the Museum, or to take home with them.
- Dressing up for events or exhibits to advertise and inspire visitors.
- Helping with creative activities for family events, such as Summer Reading Activities.
- Assisting with decorating the Museum for holidays and events.

Community Service Opportunities
For anyone interested in Community Service opportunities, please read the documents above and fill out the Uintah County Agreement for Voluntary Services. You can email the completed agreement to cbarnett@uintah.utah.gov or bring it into the Museum in person. We receive a high volume of Community Services applicants and we do our best to assist them in earning their hours, but we have to schedule appointments several weeks in advance. We appreciate your patience as we try to fit you into our busy schedule. You must have a previously scheduled appointment in order to do Community Services in the Uintah County Heritage Museum. Below is a list of expected duties for a Community Service Volunteer:
- Dust cases
- Clean stair railing
- Vacuum entry
- Mop floor
- Sanitize front counter
- Wash windows/doors
- Clean bathrooms
- Emptying the trash
- Cleaning the Kid’s Exploration Station items
- Other tasks as assigned by staff
